Rotary Hearth Furnace

GF-ELTI Rotary Hearth Furnaces are plants added to rolling lines.

They are furnaces characterised by a full and rotary hearth; their purpose is to reheat the iron and steel semi-finished products on-the-way for the next rolling operation by bringing it to the correct process temperature (1,100 ÷ 1,250 °C).

The plant is built according to the logic of modular prefabrication, which enables to quicken the on-site assembly stages of the plant.

The furnace consists of:

According to the needs in terms of factory and process layout, the furnace can be equipped with one single door or with two dedicated doors, one for loading and one for unloading. The semi-finished products are loaded into the furnace at a distance from each other, according to a circular path.

After loading one piece into the furnace through position-controlled hydraulic or electro-mechanical servocontrols, the hearth rotates by a well-defined angle (furnace step), moves the hot piece to the furnace unload zone and makes some space free for the next piece to be charged.

This type of plant requires important foundation works for the installation of handling kinematic mechanisms.

The furnace can be automatically emptied for maintenance purposes.

The types of treated products are manifold, e.g. round items, ingots or else.
